MDC 47 (VOLK) was created out of a necessity to provide the industry with the ultimate modern weapons platform based off of the battle proven AK47 platform. The foundation of the “Volk” begins with us utilizing an American manufactured Sharps Bros. MB47 milled receiver, which was originally patterned after the original milled Bulgarian AK47 but with the addition of an integrated AR buffer extension. Starting at the rear of the Volk, the system utilizes the Magpul CTR stock. We provide the end user with a positive gripping surface that allows proper one handed control of the Volk through the use of the US PALM AK grip. To provide the end user with a refined fire control group we’ve added the ALG Defense AK-T trigger system. To maximize the accuracy potential of the system, the Volk is built with our US manufactured 4150 CMV black nitride barrel coupled with our modern front sight block that replaces both the original gas block and front sight block. From its inception, the Volk was to be a purpose driven suppressor ready platform in which the barrel utilizes a suppressor ready muzzle device. Through the use of our US manufactured M-LOK hand guard system we are able to provide both a lightweight and strong gas tube that not only allows the tuned gas system to provide the necessary gases for the system to run optimally but also provides the end-user with ability to mount optics in a forward position through its integrated M1913 Picatinny rail.

    This is by far the best AK I have ever shot . So flat and dead on , I have put 500/1000 Rd’s through it with not one issue. It’s worth the wait , excellence takes time , you won’t be disappointed, only con I have is that I wish I ordered two.

    From the moment I discovered this company I knew I needed to have The Volk. After quite a wait, she finally arrived. I was nervous that the wait and money may not have been worth it, but after the first trigger pull I knew this was the best firearm I've ever had the opportunity to fire. Smoothest cycles of function, amazing looks, premium feel, and everything to the smallest detail is perfect. When meridian catches back up I will be purchasing from them again! These 400 rounds over the past week has been an absolute pleasure.

    If any rifle could exemplify quality time and effort this would be it. The intricate detail that went into this rifle is second to none. Immediately took this to the range and was impressed by the BFPU color option. I love the ALG trigger and honestly the whole rifle and consistent transparency when it came to updates on the build process. It took a while but was well worth the wait.

    Ordered the rifle and received it when it was ready. Honestly didn’t think twice about the lead time, because I knew it would be worth it. When I received the volk I couldn’t believe the fit and finish, and the cerakote was gorgeous. I have now taken it out and done a course with it to get some time behind my first ak platform rifle. This gun is a blast to shoot and you can run it faster than most people can run the AR platform with a little bit of practice. The recoil is almost non existent in my opinion and feels very similar to my AR15 rifles. Every person that has seen this rifle in person and had a chance to shoot it is now saving to buy their own. Just like I’m saving for my next MDC rifle as we speak. Can’t wait to build a solid collection of this company’s amazing rifles.

    Took this to the range on the first day, and I could not believe how well this shot. The trigger pull is smooth, the rifle is easy to shoot, and it ran perfectly the whole time. You definitely get your money’s worth with this rifle!

    I gave it 4 stars but the volk is really 4.5 stars. It would be a 5 star review but some left over light machining marks bring it down. When I called and asked about it I was told it’s from sharps brothers and that all the receivers come in like that. The rifle looks amazing minus the 4 spots that have the marks. For a rifle that goes for $2600 it should be pretty much perfect. It’s a slight issue that I believe can be fixed and if it was my business I’d have a hard time shipping a product that is top of the line and not perfect. I shot around 400 rounds through it yesterday and it is incredible. It feels like you’re shooting 5.56 with the dear air brake. It ran just fine with my sandman k and the only issues were with the pmags I tried to use and that’s no fault of the volk. This is a fantastic rifle and if you’re on the fence about it I’d say take the leap and order one.

    Paul, I just wanted to let you and Tony know that I finally got out to the range last week with my new MDC-47 “Volk” (CA Compliant) and it did not disappoint. All I can say after sending the first 250 rounds down range is—wow--what an incredible feat of engineering, craftsmanship and quality. It comes as no surprise that this rifle is absolutely awesome to shoot not to mention just to stare at. It’s a true American Beauty. It’s obvious that MDC put a lot of time and thought into building the ultimate modern AK 47. I mounted a Red Dot on the rifle and had it sighted in less than 10 minutes. Everyone at the Range wanted to check it out up close and they wanted to see the custom blaster in action. I let a couple friends shoot it and they were equally impressed. The MDC-47 “Volk” AK is very accurate and I can’t wait to go out and bang some steel at 300 yards + this week. The price and lead time was definitely worth it.
