Update to my previous review just a few days ago. In the last week, I have put more than 2000 rounds through my Volk. The first shot was dead-center on target, and every subsequent round was exactly as precise. Someone knows how to 0 a rifle at Meridian Defense. I have hit more than 400 1-inch targets at more than 400 yards with absolutely no modification to the rifle. I am actually astounded at the accuracy of this weapon right out of the box, and I would happily wait years for it again. This is a definite keeper, and one that you will not be disappointed with. Everyone talks about the accuracy of ARs vs. AKs, but I have several high high end ARs with exceptionally fine tuning, high end red dot sights, etc., and this AKM has put them all to shame. Far better than I could have anticipated. Thank you Meridian Defense. If I find a few thousand dollars to spare in the future, I'll be back for more.

Just received my Volk a few days ago. I waited 1 year and 7 seven months for it, and, after the first year, I honestly did not think the wait would be worth it. I am happy to say that I was wrong. It was an ungodly waiting period, and there were times when I almost regretted having paid the 50% deposit. However, I'm glad that I got it. The gun itself is extremely well-made, and the weight of the milled receiver helps mitigate recoil. With a suppressor, it's almost identical to a suppressed 5.56. Even unsuppressed, the recoil is closer to an AR than most AKMs I've shot. The AR stock and M-LOK rail (with Picatinny top) allow a lot more modularity than standard AKMs, so that's a definite plus. I have bought and re-sold many AKMs, and this is one that will not be sold again. Before buying from MDC, I did a lot of research and spoke with several friends who had purchased other models from them, and I have heard their products described as "works of art" more times than I thought necessary. Having my own MDC now, I agree that these are, indeed, "works of art." If you have means, and the time, to get one, I highly recommend it. On another note, the people at MDC were exceptional throughout the (really, really long) process. I sent many emails over the last year and half, and every time I received a response within one or two days. Very responsive and helpful people. They worked with me every step of the way, and got me a spectacular gun that I will enjoy for a very long time. I'd do it all over again. Thanks guys.

The wait time for these is ungodly, expect to wait a lot longer than 52 weeks. But the product you get once the wait is over…. Is immaculate. You won’t regret this purchase. Just expect to wait.

The Meridian defense Volk fit and finish is beyond any other rifle I’ve owned. Every screw and rivet is torqued down properly and marked so you will know if they ever start to back out over the life of the rifle. The receiver is properly staked to the buffer tube. The cerikote is immaculate not a single chip, ding, or scratch on it. They gave me a carrying case, magazine, and patch, which was a very nice personal touch. Lastly I would like to touch on the customer service as this is the biggest part of a large purchase to me. Every time I had a question they were able to respond to me within 24-48 hours depending on if it was around a holiday or not. I waited over a year and a half and spent over 3 thousand dollars and will be doing it again for the next run of their alpha series.

Awesome Rifle! Good communications from staff. Took a while to complete but…. It was well worth the wait. Overall great experience for a superb product. If you are looking for a high end AK….. you won’t be disappointed!

I can not say enough good things about this company, this is the 3rd rifle I have received from them. The fit and finish is absolutely incredible and the action is like butter. They are finishing up with my LDP now. Customer service is also outstanding, you have a question they are pretty quick to get you a response. If I can sneak it past the wife again I will buy my 5th one from them..

After watching Roadhouse, I put the rifle through its paces. Reliability was good as it ate up and spit out every round I feed it. Accuracy was good using multiple brands with WPA 123 HP being the best group. The one and only con was the SLR handguard did work its way forward about a quarter of an inch after the gun heated up. It was an easy fix though. Just had to loosen bolts/screws, reseat the handguard to the receiver and retorque the bolts/screws taking them a little past the factory marks. All and all, it is a well made rifle. Good job Meridian.

The Volk is the most beautiful, absolutely gorgeous rifle I have ever held in my hands. Its performance and functionality are high class and top-tier. You will not know disappointment with the Volk. It is truly a work of art and worth the investment and the wait. Big round of applause for Meridian building a weapon system that your life can truly depend on.

Definitely worth the wait, looks great, shoots better. Ordered another.
